The Mid-Region Council of Governments is accepting applications for the Accounting Manager position.
Responsibilities
Under supervision of the Senior Finance Manager, performs a variety of accounting duties, requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates all phases of payroll, including the following: reviews the entering of payroll on electronic timesheets, ensures that data is transferred to City’s mainframe on a timely basis, may act as timekeeper. Summarizes and verifies Labor Distribution.
- Ensures payroll properly posted to MRCOG’ general ledger system
- Performs monthly close-out of general ledger
- Prepares monthly invoices
- Enters invoices into general ledger system
- Assists Senior Finance Manager in grant reporting
- Performs monthly cash reconciliation
- Assists Senior Finance Manager in monthly financial reporting to managers and Executive Board
- Assists Senior Finance Manager in preparing for audits
- Oversees and supervises Accounts Payable accountant. Responsible ensuring invoices are timely paid, and expenditures correctly posted
- Assists the preparation of annual budget
- Ensures 1099’s and 1096 are properly filed
- Prepares deposits
- Assists Senior Finance Manager in preparing the Indirect Cost Rate Proposal
- Assists Senior Finance Manager in preparing GAAP disclosures for financial statements (GASBS 68, 75, 87, etc.)
- Assists Senior Finance Manager in ensuring MRCOG’s and WCCNM’s SAM registrations are current
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of accounting experience required. Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Knowledge of government accounting and reporting required. CPA and/or CGFM highly desirable. Must have proficient computer skills, with emphasis on fund accounting software and spreadsheets.
