This is a listing for the Central New Mexico LandLink program. If you are not familiar with the program please visit the LandLink home page for more information. Reference#: 146 County: Clark Zip code: 98664 Type of opportunity sought: I currently do not have farmland, but I am looking for land to farm. Specified interest in farming/ranching/animal-raising: I am interested in farming full-time, as a hobby, or as a part-time job. Interested in growing/raising: Vegetables, exotic produce, and pinon nuts. Interested in these farming/ranching practices: Organic, biodynamic, and/or permaculture. Background in farming: I am a new farmer and would like technical assistance from a more experienced farmer. I have some agriculture-related experience farming, but I am still interested in learning more. Training and education: Washington State University Master Gardener. Willing to consider the following types of business arrangements: Buy/sell, crop-share, and/or partnership. Stated interest in on-site housing: No preference. Other Information: I am interested in a small farm (5 acres or less) for growing heirloom, unusual or hard to find produce. I want to focus on a farmer-to-chef (restaurant) marketing concept. Also, I'm interested in any grants, loans or incentives for beginning farmers. My husband and I are hoping to move from Washington to New Mexico in the next couple of years. We have visited quite a bit, and would love to find a place in central or southern NM with good access to water. In addition to being a WSU Master Gardener, I've also taken a small-business class for farmers (and created a business plan), and I've done extensive research about growing in an arid climate. Down the road, I might be interested in having goats and sheep and making artisan cheese or raw milk cheese. Listing Date: September 2, 2011 Contact: localfoodnm@mrcog-nm.gov or (505) 724-3619 |
