Socio-Economic Data Print E-mail

MRCOG collects a variety of data that pertain to population, housing, jobs, and land use. Some of the specific datasets we collect include labor market statistics, Census data, commuting data, land use inventories, and building permits.

The primary products developed with the data are: 

Key resources used in the development of MRCOG datasets include the Bureau of Business and Economic Researchthe U.S. Census Bureau, and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.

The bulk of socioeconomic data collected and produced at MRCOG are primarily used to support MRCOG’s travel model and anticipate future transportation needs. MRCOG datasets are also used to assist local land use planning and policy, economic development projects, and environmental analysis. Customized socioeconomic profiles, estimates and forecasts may be developed by MRCOG staff for member governments and partnering agencies upon request.

Technical Services Print E-mail

MRCOG provides a variety of technical services that provide important information for member agencies, planning professionals, and citizens.  Much of the data we collect, end up in a variety of the maps and publications.  Wherever possible, these are made available online.  Maps and publications not available online (older documents, large format, printed version, etc.) are available for purchase.

Technical services we provide include:

Traffic Counts

We collect traffic counts at all major roads in Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance, Sandoval and southern Santa Fe counties.  The data is used to support various planning activities, and to produce annual Traffic Flow Maps of Albuquerque and the outlying rural areas.  Read more >>

Transportation Accessibility Model (TRAM)

Member agencies may request information on travel times and market information for various types of transportation, environmental justice analyses, alternative bus route analyses, and more.  Read more >>

Travel Demand Forecasts

We provide services to member agencies using the regional transportation model.  This model predicts travel demand for automobile, transit, bicycle, and walk trips for the Metropolitan Transportation Plan analysis years.  Read more >>

Geographic Information Systems

We provide digital map data in ESRI formats, digital aerial photography, digital graphic formats for hard copy maps, and special mapping requests.  Read more >>

Congestion Management Process

MRCOG gathers information on traffic congestion - how long it takes to travel from one place to another within the urban area. Otherwise known as the Congestion Management Process, this federally mandated process helps planners identify congested travel corridors and recommends strategies to increase mobility options for the travelling public.  Read more >>

 
Transportation Accessibility Model (TRAM) Print E-mail

Member agencies may request the following: 

  • Travel times and market information for driving on streets, riding buses on transit routes, walking on sidewalks and trails, and riding on bike lanes and trails
  • Environmental Justice analyses for studies and projects
  • Alternative Bus Route analyses
  • Connectivity Assessments
  • Pedestrian Market Assessments

Travel Demand Forecasts Print E-mail

MRCOG provides a variety of travel demand forecasting services to our member agencies using the Regional Transportation Model. This model predicts travel demand for automobile, transit, bicycle, and walk trips for Metropolitan Transportation Plan analysis years. Model data can be analyzed for peak hour characteristics or compiled to identify daily trends. Traffic analysis is done on a system-wide basis and focuses on travel patterns and trends.

Geographic Information Systems Print E-mail

Member governments and other agencies may request the following: 

  • Digital map data in ESRI formats (shapefiles, coverages, geodatabase)
  • Digital aerial photography (orthophotography)
  • Digital graphic formats for standard MRCOG hard copy map products
  • Special mapping requests or geographic analyses
