Whether you are one of the 175 producers currently certified organic in New Mexico, or just interested in organic principles, the New Mexico Organic Farming Conference offers a range of topics for back yard gardeners to large scale market producers!

Workshops delivered by regional experts will cover an array of topics including:

  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Berry production
  • Organic egg production
  • Beneficial insects
  • Greenhouses
  • Season extension techniques
  • Acequia science
  • Conservation easements

On site demonstrations will also be given on a variety of topics including off the grid solar system set-up, farm ergonomics, and drip irrigation. See the full conference agenda (PDF).

The New Mexico Organic Farming Conference would not be complete without the key note speaker.  This year Francis Thicke will be  speaking on Ecology As A Model for Organic Agriculture.  Thicke is the owner and operator of a certified organic, grass-based, value-added dairy in Iowa, as well as deeply involved with research and promotion of organic agriculture.

The conference takes place Friday, February 29th and Saturday, March 1st at the Marriott Albuquerque Pyramid North. You can register the day of the event, or pre-register by mail
