Larry Abraham

Larry Abraham is a native New Mexican born in Santa Fe and graduated from the Anderson School of Management with a concentration in Finance. His career in the metropolitan area includes 30 years of business experience ranging from real estate, banking, retail, commercial /residential construction to telecommunications. Larry was elected Mayor of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque in March of 2004. Mayor Abraham also serves as Vice-Chair of the board of directors of MRCOG.

The Metropolitan Transportation Board (MTB) sets policy for transportation issues in the urban area. Elected officials from the different jurisdictions sit together on the MTB. The Board coordinates local government transportation planning and project development, identifies federal funding for transportation projects, including roadway widenings and extensions, sets policy for roadway access, identifies corridors and alignments for new roadways, identifies bicycle facilities and federal funding for them, and makes decisions about long-range issues such as light rail proposals.

Transportation Coordinating Committee (TCC)

This committee provides technical advice to the Metropolitan Transportation Board. The committee reviews items that are scheduled to come before the board and provides recommendations from a technical viewpoint. Read more >>

Public Involvement Committee

This committee provides advice to the Metropolitan Transportation Board from a citizen perspective. The committee reviews major transportation plan and program changes and provides input. Read more >>  

Intelligent Transportation System Subcommittee

This is a federally mandated program.  The subcommittee coordinates the development of intelligent transportation elements into the regional transportation system. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) use technology such as radios, synchronized traffic lights, and dynamic message signs to increase the efficiency of the transportation system. Read more >>

Congestion Management Process

This system is a federally mandated program that helps planners identify congested travel corridors and recommends strategies to mitigate that congestion.  These are inter-agency meetings.   Read more  >>

Transportation Program Task Group (TPTG)

This is a working group that provides advice to the Transportation Coordinating Committee regarding the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the long range system maps for the urban area. Read more >>

Walking and Biking Advisory Group

This group works with both the Transportation Coordinating Committee and the Public Involvement Committee.  The group meets on an as-needed basis.
