About Us

The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) is the administrative entity and fiscal agent for the Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico, a workforce development program under the provisions of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998.

MRCOG provides board and committee support, performs planning, provides technical assistance and training, and assures compliance with WIA reporting performance requirements. In addition, MRCOG monitors expenditures, documents financial operations, coordinates the annual audit, and oversees Business and Career Center cost allocation.

The United States Congress appropriates all funds expended to administer employment programs, including the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions administers and monitors. The intent of the WIA is to streamline workforce services by consolidating more than sixty federal training programs through three block grants to the states: Adult Employment and Training, Disadvantaged Youth Employment and Training, and Adult Education and Literacy Grants.
