Currently three school districts are members of MRCOG, and they play an active role in transportation planning: Albuquerque Public Schools, Los Lunas Public Schools, and Rio Rancho Public Schools.
Albuquerque Public Schools
Albuquerque Public Schools is the state’s largest school district with about 87,000 students. The district serves most of Bernalillo County as well as the Village of Corrales. There is a seven member board of directors that serves 4-year staggered terms.

Los Lunas Schools
Los Lunas Schools serves northern Valencia County which includes the Village of Los Lunas and the Village of Bosque Farms. Los Lunas Schools serves about 9,000 students. There is a five member Board that serves 4-year staggered terms.

Rio Rancho Schools
Rio Rancho Schools is the state’s newest school district, it began operations with the 1994-95 school year. It serves the City of Rio Rancho as well as areas to the north and west known as Rio Rancho Estates. Rio Rancho Public Schools serves about 11,000 students. There is a five member Board that serves 4-year staggered terms.
