Just as crop production has slowed down for the season, so too have the local food and agriculture events. But don't worry, there are still a few great events this month as well as some winter farmers markets.

Learn about Local Beer and Hops Production, sponsored by the MRCOG Agriculture Collaborative. Speakers include Ted Rice, Director of Brewing at Marble Brewery and Chama River Brewing Co, who will talk about current operations and sourcing of ingredients, and the potential and need for sourcing locally grown hops and grains. Dan Young from UNM Service Learning will talk about the hops demonstration plots in the South Valley, and the potential for growing hops in our region. The meeting will be held on December 10th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Marble Brewery, located at 111 Marble Ave NW near downtown Albuquerque. • Register now for Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension’s Urban Farming Series. The series will run December, January, and February.  Topics include entrepreneurship, cover crops, and fruit tree farming. For more information contact Jeff Bader at 243-1386 or jbader@nmsu.edu.
• The Los Ranchos Growers Market Winter Market is held the 2nd Saturday of each month, December through April, from 10 am to noon. More information/directions
• The Corrales Growers Market also has a winter season, held on the first Sunday of each month, from 10 am - 1:00 pm. More information
