Tradtional Gardens Workshop - Sun. May 15th Print E-mail

What is a waffle garden?  And what do cobblestones have to do with extending the growing season and water efficiency in your pumpkin patch? Learn how you can save money, water and grow the best vegetables in the Southwest in this informative workshop.  Archaeobotanist Glenna Dean will walk you through the process and give you an appreciation for our agricultural history in this informative talk.

On Sunday, May 15th from  10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Albuquerque Open Space will host a workshop entitled: Traditional Gardens:  Waterwise Techniques to adopt in modern Southwestern households at the Open Space Visitor Center.  The center is located at 6500 Coors Blvd, located east of Coors Blvd. at the end of Bosque Meadows Rd. which is between Montano Blvd. and Paseo del Norte.

The workshop will be followed by a live demo as we rebuild our own waffle garden walls and show you how to implement this simple technique in your own backyards.
