SC, Inc. was formed eight years ago to create sustainable communities for senior care. Four years ago SC, Inc. started its Field to Food Project to grow and distribute fresh produce to home bound elders in Valencia County. The Field to Food Project raised and sent 130 bags of tomatoes to home bound elders in coordination with Meals on Wheels in 2009. In 2010 the Project expanded its food production and distribution to include other vegetables and sent out 135 produce bags to elders. This year the Project is developing an organic community garden at the Center’s campus (that will be available for viewing on June 24, 2011) to provide additional organic produce for distribution by the Project. “We believe that local foods and healthy eating habits are one of the main factors to successful aging” said Ms. Lindemuth. The Center for Ageless Living is a unique facility that embraces and supports aging with a variety of programs and services that include family and community involvement. The five elements of The Center – Senior Living Systems, Personal Living Systems, the Garden Gate Day Spa and Salon, Green House Bistro and Bakery and Community Park Programs – are located on Highway 47 just north of South El Cerro Loop between Los Lunas and Tome.
