SFCC Hosts Carbon Economy Series on Soil

Friday, Oct. 14 (public lecture) & Saturday Oct. 15 - Sunday Oct. 16 (full day weekend workshop)

Seminars on healthy soil presented by Rodale Institute’s Dr. Elaine Ingham

 

Living Soil is Where It’s At

Dr Elaine Ingham, Rodale Institute, discusses healthy soil biology, fertility and high production yield.

When: Friday, October 14, 7-9 p.m.

Introduction to Soil Foodweb

Dr. Ingham explains in detail how soil becomes foods for plants.

When: Saturday, October 15, 2011    All Day Workshop 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Where: Santa Fe Community College, Trades and Advanced Technology Center, 6401 Richards Ave.

Soil Foodweb and Compost Tea Technology

Dr Ingham teaches how to heal soil and plants by altering the biology of the soil instead of adding expensive chemical additives. Includes work with microscopes and students’ soil samples.

Working on compost tea with many people around the world has brought a greater understanding of how to properly manage thermally produced compost, vermicompost and compost tea toguarantee disease-suppressive, soil-building, nutrient-retaining composts and compost teas.

When: Sunday, October 16, 2011    All Day Workshop 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Chief Scientist at Rodale Institute and President and Director of Research at Soil Foodweb Inc., Dr. Ingham is one of the world’s leading soil microbiologists with 30 years of experience researching and teaching about creatures under the soil. Her energetic and easy-to-understand teaching style brings the soil foodweb to life. Dr. Ingham holds a doctorate in Microbiology with an emphasis on soilfrom Colorado State University. She is also an affiliate professor at Maharishi University of Management in Iowa and has served in academia for two decades.
