The Congestion Management Process is a federally mandated process that helps planners identify congested travel corridors and recommends strategies to increase transportation efficiency and provide additional options for the travelling public.
Data is gathered on a network of corridors in the Albuquerque Metro Planning Area. This data helps identify the sources and types of congestion experienced, as well as the locations which experience the greatest travel delays in the region. Benefits of this program may include improved travel times for commuters, improved incident management, enhanced public safety and security, reduced traveler delays, improved traveler information, and in general, a more efficient transportation system. Data from this program can be found in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). Project Prioritization ProcessThe Project Prioritization Process is an evaluation tool that is applied to transportation projects proposed for inclusion in the TIP. The Project Prioritization Process contains a series of quantitative evaluation criteria which are designed to measure the extent to which an individual project addresses the transportation needs of the region. This technical assessment provides baseline information upon which sound transportation planning decisions can be made. The Guidebook provides a detailed summary of the process and an explanation of the evaluation criteria and project scoring methodology. Project Prioritization Process Guidebook Corridor Profiles
