ABQ CiQlovía is back and will take place in the International District on Southern Avenue east of Louisiana on Sunday, October 21st, from 10am-3pm. During the free event, Southern Ave will be closed to cars and opened up to people on foot, on bike, and to outdoor exercise classes, public art, dancing, Complete Street demonstration projects, health screenings, a climbing wall, and other activities. It is a community-initiated effort that allows people to experience the health benefits of walking and biking while promoting community and local businesses. It is designed for people of all ages and abilities!
New this year, ABQ CiQlovía is partnering with AARP New Mexico and place-making organization, Team Better Block out of Dallas for a week-long build and transformation process prior to the event in collaboration with the community. The project temporarily improves the physical and economic environment on a specific city block, in this case the area near Southern Avenue.
