School Districts

Currently, three school districts are MRCOG members, and all play an active role in transportation planning: Albuquerque Public Schools, Los Lunas Public Schools, and Rio Rancho Public Schools.

Albuquerque Public Schools

Albuquerque Public Schools is the state's largest school district with about 84,000 students in 141 schools. Students of the district live in Albuquerque, the villages of Corrales and Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, and the pueblos of Isleta and Laguna. APS is governed by a seven member board of directors that serves four year staggered terms.

Los Lunas Schools

Los Lunas Schools serves northern Valencia County, which includes the Village of Los Lunas and the Village of Bosque Farms. Los Lunas Schools encompasses 15 schools, serving about 8,500 students. LLS is one of 63 school districts (out of 27,000 school districts nationwide) that was accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and achieved the distinguished classification of District Accreditation. There is a five member Board that serves four year staggered terms.

Los Lunas Schools District Information.

Rio Rancho Schools

Founded in 1994, Rio Rancho Schools is the state's newest school district, and already its third largest. It serves the City of Rio Rancho as well as areas to the north and west known as Rio Rancho Estates. Rio Rancho Public Schools serves about 17,500 students. There is a five member Board that serves four year staggered terms.
