The Albuquerque Metropolitan Planning Area’s (AMPA) Regional ITS Architecture establishes a regional framework for coordinated ITS deployment for ITS projects. This document was developed by the ITS Subcommittee in close coordination with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) ITS Bureau pursuant to FHWA/FTA ITS Architecture and Standards Final Rule (Rule 940.11).
ITS regional stakeholders are involved to ensure that ITS deployments are developed and implemented in a manner that meets identified user needs and functionality, include components to support data sharing, are coordinated with phased development and are consistent with regional goals. The baseline architecture establishes a "consensus blueprint" for all ITS deployments to meet the identified transportation needs of the region. The subsequent addendums serve to integrate the architecture into the MRCOG's transportation planning and project programming process through project review in the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
